Tempe Butte Stop 3 - Biface The brownish stone tool is chert, a rock type that is not found naturally at Tempe Butte. The fragmented edges indicate that the ends were intentionally sharpened. This stone tool is called a biface, because it is flaked on both sides. This sort of a tool might have been used to scrape hides. |
